Jacob had been waiting for this one trip for weeks! I don't think he had any idea how close we were going to be to the animals in the park. Hehehe...I didn't either.
Taylor has no clue. I think he thinks we were going to the zoo to see "an-mals."
Driving up to the safari andI have to admit that I was starting to feel kinda sick and nauseous. My stomach was beginning to hurt. You know...that nervous feeling?? Yea, I had butterflies in my stomach!
We thought it would be a good idea to buy three bags of food to feed the animals (we ended up needing only one!) and a tour guide so Jake could identify the animals for us. Jake did great! He enjoyed it so much.
At 5 mph, the safari would takeabout 45 mins to an hour to go through the entire route. We, obviously, took a lot longer. It was great because there weren't a lot of ppl there and some cars just went around us because we made so many stops.
Saw this and thought...hey, not too bad...they aren't up too close...so I thought...
Here is our buddy...he followed the car for a while begging for food.
When I saw this guy, I closed my side of the window. Taylor was screaming in the back and Jake was fascinated and was throwing food on the ground for him to eat.
Cool huh?
The goats saw us coming, so they all decided to walk towards the car and not wait for us to go to them.
Jake loved it. I had Jer roll up his window a little because I was getting nervous. He'd put his arm out, drop the food onto the ground, and leave his arm out the window!! I was like freaking out!
These didn't come close.
I decided to take Taylor out of his carseat and had him ride up front so he'd feel more comfortable and enjoy the safari. He loved it...though many times he climbed on my lap, pulled my hair, pinched my shoulder...etc...when the animals got close.
Jeremiah thought he was dead, but I saw it move a little...I think.
These were on my side of the road...though very neat looking...I was praying very hard that they wouldn't get up to come to the car or that Jer would drive away soon enough before they got up. I'm such a sucker.
Since Tay got out of his carseat, it was only fair to let Jake out and get the VIP spot...up on the sunroof...well, not up on top, but viewing from the top. This lasted for a little bit until we met up with the ostriches...more info later.
Being brave...so proud of the guy. He really enjoyed throwing food for the animals. Half of the time, it hit the dashboard and bounced right back onto my lap or the car floor. LOL.
Jake attracted a really big animal...ummm..hmmm..
Here he comes...
Right up to Jeremiah...(love that grin on Jer's face...he's "not scared.")
Then, through the window...
Too close, Jer had to roll up the window...HAHAHAHA...LOL!!! (Mr. Brave, right??) LOL. Look at Jacob...hahha..this picture makes me laugh. Love it.
Ewww...these animals are mean. They come up to you and try to peck the food right out of your hands. Luckily, Jer closed the window...some times I felt, not soon enough because they have long necks and are fast...but they never got inside the car. However, they kept pecking the window and the kids were screaming. (411-half way through the safari, Emma was getting restless, so I decided to leave the boys upfront with Jer while I sat in the back...in Tay's carseat...holding Emma.) Let me tell you...these ostriches sent my boys right to the back with me. They were pulling on me and screaming...it was crazy and hilarious at the same time. I tried to stay brave and act unscared bc I didn't want to freak them out...but I was literally telling Jer to drive away fast...and of course...he didn't. ; /
Too bad the camels were far away...I don't think the kids even saw this one.
Jer took this awesome picture. Like I said, he did not drive away fast enough from these birds.
These animals were fighting.
This one came very close to Jake. I kept having to yell outloud to remind him to pull his arm back into the car.
Pouting for some reason...don't know why, but I had to include this because one day he's not going to believe me when I tell him he pouted over everything!! He's so cute though!!!
Jer's buddy...
Love this picture of the guys teeth...hahaha
Jer told Jake to do that with his fingers. They are supposedly "antlers."
My cutie patooties.
Looking at the lazy lemurs...
Being silly for me.
My sweet and precious Emma. So happy to have a girl to dress up!!
She doesn't like the grass.
Not so happy with me...pouts just like her brothers.
And we HAD to get the tshirts! We survived the safari!!!
Having lunch and Tay tells us to shhhh! That's what we told him during the safari when he first screamed when the animals came up to the window. He's such a smart kid.
He doesn't want to eat so he tells us he has a stomach ache...then a few seconds after that, he started slurpin' his icee. Good try buddy! :)
Saying good bye to the giraffes!
P.S. The kids slept so well that night. It was awesome.
