Ouch!

Gave myself the hCG shot this morning...I was a nervous wreck! I hadn't done this in over a year and didn't know if I remembered well enough to do it right. After reading the instructions a few hundred times with a crying baby (Jakey was just building the suspense for me), I had the confidence to mix the solution and give the injection. Not only were my hands shaking ridiculously, but I bent the injection needle and so when I injected it through my lower abdomen, it hurt pretty bad. The site is pretty sore. I am waiting for the other side effects to kick in since my body is sensitive to everything! Tomorrow afternoon at 3:20, I will go in for the insemination. Crossing fingers..!!!

What is hCG? hCG is injected into the muscle or under the skin to trigger ovulation. When used at mid-cycle, hCG can act like your body's luteinizing hormone (LH) surge. The hormone that will tell if you are ovulating or not when you use the ovulation predictor kit. The hCG causes the dominant follicle in the ovary to release its egg approximately 36-40 hours after the injection.
